Is this about belted sanitary napkins? the new editions of the book have been changed to the ones with the adhesive strip placed on the bottom. Saw some cool vintage photos , hope that helped.

Well that was ancient tech to hold the pads in place. believe me we live in far better times now with the advent of adhesive technology :P
