Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Patty Blount My most recent project, GOODNESS AND LIGHT, came from a brainstorming session I had with my family. I had been asked to contribute a novella to a Christmas in New York series and wondered where I could set my story that would be both unique and touching and reflect the spirit of the season. Well, that led me to remembering September 11th and all of the incredible stories of brotherhood that united us -- far too briefly -- following the tragedy. Stories of people helping strangers, supplying bottles of water and shoes, stories of people doing whatever they could at the moment.

I wanted to tell a story like that.
