How is the language in this book? Lots of swearing or no?

Shannon Green DesRoche Very little. It seems to be used only to convey emotion, and only as necessary. There are a couple of characters who let profanity slip more than others, but it certainly isn't prevalent in the dialogue.
Julie Alderson There's an original piece of swearing, apparently, typically Canadian (correct me if I'm wrong, please), uttered by Gamache: "Tabernacle", in French. I wasn't aware that was a rude word.
