Aminar asked:

I'm working through this, and I have to ask this. Why no contractions? I know you aren't supposed to use them in academic writing, but pretty much every novel I've read uses them with a few exceptions (early Wheel of Time and Monster Hunter Int. books) I can't help but notice every single contraction and it is hellishly distracting in an otherwise great read.

Mark Swenson For many of us, the inclusion of contractions is disturbing.
