Definitely so-so,
The first book works better because of the interplay between Shaun and Georgia at least in part.
Without that character the story seems, somewhat lopsided maybe?

It's different. The first was more focused on how the world works, and how the smaller microcosm of journalism works within that world.
This book is much more about the virus itself, and how people are working with it, and trying to understand it.
I really enjoyed both. They are both great thrillers that made me just a little paranoid while I was reading them, and I am moving on to the third, quite happy with the time I've invested in this series.

NO! The first book was amazing! The second, sucked bad. I hate Shuan.
