I wouldn't recommend it. It's not nearly as good that way.

The character relations is in the middle of an ongoing story and the book will leave major plot points unresolved. However, books works just fine as a Cormyr novel, and closes the regional story. In fact, the Cormyr bits was IMO the best part of the book.

well, you can, but you are better off reading the Brimstone Angels books and the third book of the Sundering series as it all ties into this book.
