As you may have discovered by now, the Common Core standards were developed by state education offices to make sure that elementary-, middle-, and high-school classes are high quality. Supporting them means, in the case of a novel, that it can be used a part of a curriculum aligned with those standards. You might like to look at, where the publisher makes the claim.
