I'm 15 (so I guess a middle teen if such a thing exists) and it worked fine for me. I think I would have liked it just as much at age 13, but not so much 11 or 12. As I haven't been older than 15 yet I can't tell you my experience on if a teenager older than me would like it, but the writing was good and the protagonist was 15 at the beginning, 16 at the end. So yeah, age range probably 13-19?
