Goodreads asked L.A. Ramirez:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

L.A. Ramirez Read your genre, set a goal, believe in yourself and write. You must read what you write. I can't say any more about that but if you don't read in the area you write in, you will not know what people like to read or how the genre is written. It was when I set a goal to complete and attempt to publish a book I did. It took two and a half years, about eight years after writing my first book, but I finished it and published it. I was blessed with friends and family who believed in me, but I did have a few naysayers. I chose to ignore them and listen to the positive. Only you have the control over what you accept from people, so ignore the negative and accept the positive.
