Misty asked:

Does any one know what the "Thing" is when they are talking about having a trial in front of the Thing?

Stephen A "Thing" is the old Norse word for "an assembly of the community", presided over by keepers of the law. generally on a hill or important location near a town. It's really an unfortunate word, because every time it's mentioned, I have to ask, "What thing are they talking about?!?"
