I'm lucky enough to have a very grumpy father-in-law. He's one of those people who (un)intentionally presses every button I own (psychologically-speaking, I mean, and not the buttons on my fancy cardigan). Whenever I meet him, he makes me feel like I've either been attacked by angry hounds or trapped inside a little box! Try as I might to get along, I sometimes just want to ESCAPE!! We've all been there.
As a writer and self-professed "human nature observer" I find those interactions interesting, frightening and deeply amusing. Without giving too much away, the rest of the story developed from there....

Hi Carla, I found a great quote from you that I'd like to use in a uni essay if you don't mind. It was: “The greatest barrier to self-understanding is our fear of knowing the truth within ourselves, but when we do understand ourselves, we greatly enhance what we are capable of.” I'm wondering if you could please tell me what book that was from so I can reference it properly?
