Goodreads asked Robert P. Mitchell:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Robert P. Mitchell You have to decide what you want to write and for whom. Your intended audience drives what you want to say and how you will say it. When I preach, I visualize my congregation and ask, "What do they need to hear this day?" If you write just because you enjoy putting words on a page, no one will care what you say. Writing has to fill a need, and it's the writer's job to discover that need.
