I have been interested in the Salem Witch Trials since I read "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" in 7th grade. It has always held me captive and I love a good mystery about things which may or may not be supernatural. I have also always been interested in Native Americans and one of my best friends is from NA heritage on both sides. I thought it'd be an interesting twist to mix the 2 traditions and belief systems in a YA novel. I am also proud to say there are strong LGBT characters in my book. I think it is important to promote characters with whom readers can identify as well as breaking down stereotypes.
