How do you deal with writer’s block?

Jonni Rich Writer's block is serious. Therefore, I treat it with humor if at all possible. I speak to my blocking character. Claire in the current WIP. I say to her. "Don't want to talk today, huh? You know I have the power to kill you off. You're not that great anyway. Easily replaced." If Claire continues to balk, I go outside and enjoy fresh air. If that doesn't work, I go to Starbucks. If that doesn't work, I buy shoes. Eventually, the character will speak. They're such hams anyway. As I mentioned Writer's block is serious, but not terminal. By: Jonni Rich. Author
