Charmaine It never occurred to me that the Oasians were plants.
I think the Oasians understood eternal life.
It was left unsaid as to whether or not the medications were helping the Oasians. But toward the end of the book the humans were finally getting a chance to study a sick Oasian to find out if meds could help them.
Since we have never had the actual experience of trying to transfer one religion to another species, that question must be completely unanswerable.
