It isn't written as a book for children. There is no material really inappropriate for kids age 9 and up, but the story & themes will probably go over the heads of anyone younger than 13 or 14.
We listened to an audio book of "Going Postal" with our 9 year old son and he loved it. But "Guards! Guards!" didn't catch his fancy.
