My father was one of those WWII vets who never spoke of his experiences in the war. While flying him to Florida on his 75th birthday,my small airplane had an engine failure and we crash landed into a wooded area. After we crawled from the plane and realized our injuries were minor, Dad looked up at the sky and said, "Well, at least there weren't any Germans up there this time." "This time?" I asked, but he said no more. I decided there was a great story there that I would never hear, so I created a story for him. "Unspoken Valor" is a tribute to my dad and to all the other silent heroes who have defended our country without recognition for their valor.
