Maine it is mentioned in the list of things that Jackson's South African friend, Mitch, notes about the missing children he searches for. So i guess the idea is that Jackson remembers that particular detail and has seen something similar recently....but i didn't see any reference to his actually seeing it, so who knows if it's a thread that might pull forward into another book.
