Yes there is bad language and intense sexual kissing scenes. The violence was not too bad though. I would not recomend it for young people.

There is some bad language--the worst are a few shits--but as far as sexually, it only goes to kissing, and no real violence. It remained very appropriate for youth readers, although it is a romance, so deals with more mature themes than the Disney movie; at least in my opinion, since I was reading books with this language or worse when I was much younger, and I think I turned out fine! :P
