asked:
Can the films described in the book be identified as real films? They seem familiar, but I could be sure of none of them.

Raven Maty
The first one is Cat People (Jacques Tourneur, 1942), the third one is The Enchanted Cottage (John Cromwell, 1945), the fifth one is partly based on I walked with a zombie (Jacques Tourneur, 1943). The other ones are created by the author, but maybe you can find fragments in the book adaptation Kiss of the Spider Woman (Héctor Babenco, 1985).
