Michelle Aslanian
Michelle Aslanian asked Frances Mayes:

I love your story "Under the Tuscan Sun." It is such a beautiful and moving story and anytime I need some motivation or a happy thought, I watch that movie. I love stories like this and sometimes find that when I try to write, I seem to get writer's block. What do you do when you get writer's block?

Frances Mayes The great old answer to that is: lower your standards! Just keep writing, even just free-writing for five minute spurts without thought or direction. Exercising the muscles in your fingers will connect with the brain and lubricate the synapses!
