Almost anything can give an author an idea to write. In fact if given one sentence I'm sure any writer could come up with a story. I've incorporated ideas from so many real life situations. One day waiting on line at Tim Hortons a man behind me who was impeccably dressed wore brown leather shoes with tassels. It gave me an idea to have my protagonist wear similar shoes in my first novel What The Heart Can Hold. Hard as it may seem the shoe scene towards the end of the story is a very moving paragraph.
