So I had a question about Noor. Obviously she was physically abused by her uncle on pg. 224 and it was implied by Misbah that she was abused before because of the bruise on her arm. What confused me was that Noor didn't really allude to that incident or any other incidents with her uncle in any of "her" chapters. Was Chachu's violence just started recently during this novel or has it been going on for a while, then?

I think that the author purposefully didn't mention it in her chapters because Noor had grown used to it, and thought of it as natural. I think it is meant to show that her life was pretty miserable, so much so that she didn't think about the physical abuse so much. This is just my take on it, I am not that sure.(less)
