Goodreads asked Sherrie R. Cronin:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Sherrie R. Cronin It depends on the cause. For me it's usually that I've been ignoring my physical body for too long, and I need to stop and stretch, drink water, eat, walk, pee or rest. Often I need to do all of them. I get really caught up in trying to get a scene just right, and can find that I haven't moved for hours. That just isn't healthy. It seems to me that writer's block is my way of forcing myself to take a break.
The other time I run into blocks is when I'm trying to write a scene for which I don't have enough background. This happened in z2 when I tried to describe a civil war re-enactment, and finally realized that I didn't know enough about one to write about it! I took a break to do some research, and my husband even attended one nearby and came back with video. Of course then I had the opposite problem. I ended up writing pages describing this reenactment and had to cut the scene way back when I edited my first draft.
