Goodreads asked L.C. Dale:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

L.C. Dale Read- read as much as you can, in as many different genres as you can. The more you read the more you will learn about writing styles, character and plot development. You'll learn what makes a good story and more importantly what doesn't. And in between all the reading write. Write every day, come rain, shine, hail or wind. Doesn't matter if it's a journal, a short story, just a few lines of dialogue. Just write it down. Don't go anywhere without a notebook and pen (or a tablet/Ipad etc for the technophiles out there) and most importantly at least to begin with don't worry about whether it's any good or not. You can edit and refine later. The most important thing is to get it written in the first place.
