Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Carla J. Curtis
I got the idea for my recent short story The Blessing of Snowflakes from having to go through the grieving process more than I have wanted to over these last several years due to the passing of several loved ones. Therefore, I decided to create the main character in this short story as a strong African American woman who learns that even the strong can get weak and experience extreme emotional pain after losing someone near and dear to their heart. I also wanted to show that it can be extremely painful and almost unbearable while going through the stages of grief after losing a loved one and that there is nothing weak about a strong woman admitting her pain and asking for help. In addition, I wanted to show that even in the midst of sorrow that healing and growth can occur and that the sun will eventually shine again.
