Goodreads asked James G. Brueggemann:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

James G. Brueggemann I have been writing haiku for over thirty years. This was a chance to collaborate on the concept of "place," a core element of haiku. Working together with illustrator Kaori Mitsushima and editor Mindy Brueggemann at Dankworth Publishing, we were able to put together an accessible book which is artistically appealing, true to the heart of haiku and diverse in subject. Though each of the poems can stand on its own, when brought together with others similar in setting, a whole is created that sticks in people's memory.
Readers have said:
"I laughed and I cried"
"I've experienced those things"
"You NOTICED that!"
"The poems paint a picture in my head"
