Goodreads asked Sarah Alicia Lindquist:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Sarah Alicia Lindquist I ask questions, the "Who, What, When, Where, Why and How". Mostly I use Why, What and Who. Like "Who should answer the protagonist's question? Why is this character the one to answer the question? What is motivating the protagonist to ask this question?" I get myself thinking and there's no better way to start thinking than ask simple but to the point questions that can trail off into essay long answers. You may even discover there was more to your story than you thought.
