Depends what you mean by witches.
If "magic users", yes; if "female magic users", yes; if "magic users in an unholy pact with Satan (or equivalent)", no, of course not. So far as I can remember, the most recent fiction I've read involving those was written in the 19th century. Even C.S. Lewis's "White Witch" Jadis is half giant and half jinn, and so an inherent magic user, not the maker of a pact.
