Hard to say, depends a lot on the reader. For me, 1-2.
There are lots of hell/devilish imagery, but I didn't find the supernatural part scary at all. There are some (well done) thriller/suspenseful bits, though, mostly related to the murder/killer. They kept me at the edge of my seat reading, but I wouldn't list them as "scary".

César nailed it. It's a mystery and a drama more than anything else. A bit of gore but not really scary.

there is all kinds of scary, some people are scared of snakes but some aren't. i would give it a 5. above average book that is worth reading.
Joshua
1. It's not really a horror novel. More supernatural mystery.
