The House of Charles Swinter is largely about old age and how to preserve its dignity. As you get older, do you feel yourself becoming more or less like Charles Swinter? Do you think Edward will turn out like him?
I hope I won't turn out like Charles, although in many ways he is an admirable character. He doesn't "act his age" and sees no reason to. I doubt Edward will end up like him. He's already old. It's often said you're one age all your life, and I've tried to capture that - as much of it as I think is true - in my novel. Thank you for your questions.
