Goodreads asked D.M. Stoddard:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

D.M. Stoddard When they were young I told my kids bedtime stories that I made up as the night went on. I enjoyed it. They loved it. When I played D&D, long long ago, I enjoyed presenting campaigns for my friends to work through. For The Legend of Jerrod I thought of a young man who didn't want to become a miller like his father. He wanted fame and fortune. For that he needed to find treasure... and the story was born.

But, being younger he also needed to experience love. Because it's a fantasy there must be wizards and Elves. Terry Brooks created an interest in druids. And, where would any fantasy series be without a dragon or two?
