Goodreads asked Melissa Wright:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Melissa Wright Write something. So many times I hear from aspiring authors who are waiting for something: waiting on plot details, waiting on inspiration, waiting on a workshop to closer to their hometown. But the best way to improve any skill is to practice. If you have the desire, put pen to paper and get started now. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece. It doesn't have to be your magnum opus. Just write something. Write something and keep writing every day, and the rest will come to you. You will be inspired, you will create your story, and you will be a writer, which is far more rewarding than merely aspiring to it.
