Goodreads asked Jason Fry:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Jason Fry If you're struggling with writer's block, one of two things is probably happening:

Possibility #1 is that you haven't sufficiently thought through some aspect of what you're working on, and it needs more time to "cook" subconsciously. Try writing yourself a letter about what's bothering you, revisiting that part of your outline/treatment, or doing something that takes half your brain so the other half can work on the problem. (I've found mowing the lawn or a couple of days' driving helps.) You may need a week or two (or more) for whatever's not ready to fully cook.

Possibility #2 is that you're finding excuses not to be at your keyboard working. Fixing this one is up to you. (Sorry.)

One of the perils of being a writer is we get very good at convincing ourselves we're struggling with #1 when the real problem is #2.
