Kathryn Scott Its a moral story about the terrible wrongs that were committed to Jews in the war. The point is made that the Jews in the camps and the soldiers guarding them, and their families, are all people deserving of kindness, safety and friendship.

Eliza Abady Bruno went to see Shmuel one last time before he returned to Berlin again, but Bruno really wanted to see the other side of the fence and got rounded up to a gas chamber where Shmuel and Bruno died together, then the dad passed out because he finally realized what he was doing to the Jews just happened to his son.
