Carmela Dutra
Carmela Dutra asked:

I love this idea of a You Decide ending. What sparked the idea to go this route?

Cat Michaels Thanks for asking, Carmela,

There are two reasons I went with a You-Decide tale:
First, I didn't want to dictate a specific way to resolve the protagnist's dilemma, so I thought it would be interesting to have kids come up with their own solution. As long as it's polite and respectful, there's no wrong decision. And they write or draw some amazing endings that I never considered!

Second, I want to encourage kids to use their imagination and creativity, plus sharpen their problem-solving skills...all while having fun with reading. It's been a joy for me to see the reactions when children learn they will become junior authors or illustrators and decide the ending!
