Goodreads asked Sally O'Keef:

How do you get inspired to write?

Sally O'Keef After the birth of my fourth child, I found myself immersed in books. I used them as a coping mechanism. They were a happy thing to help me get through postpartum depression. Then I started writing. It was an outlet that left me fulfilled. My first manuscript, which I titled, Immortals, was lost when we moved and our computer went kaput. But I'd found my passion. I wasn't writing to publish, I was writing for me. Because I loved it, and I had ideas that just kept coming. Then, last year, I wrote the first line to Every Breath. (Which actually didn't make it through revisions, but I loved it.)

"If someone told me yesterday I’d be sitting in a portable salon in the parking lot on the beach having every inch of my body waxed in preparation to be a contestant on the reality TV show ‘Couple’s Cruise’, I would have laughed in their face. "

Dylan cracked me up from the beginning. Her personality was feisty and everything I wished I were. I fell in love with her, and knew her story had to be the very first I published.
