Sometimes, I get inspired by a place. That happens more now than it used to. New England seems to be such a place, especially along its coastline. Occasionally, a dream - or a shred of a dream - will set me on a path. Just reading a book that excites me and that reveals expert craft and rich, textured sentences, with pacing I admire (and would love to achieve, if I don't write another Victorian-era novel) is just the thing to inspire me to put the book down and write.
