Goodreads asked Deepak Karamungikar:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Deepak Karamungikar Once you've written a couple of books and dealt with a dozen characters or more, you start seeing the world through the eyes of the people around you. Because you've trained yourself to write as a character x or y or what he or she would do when a or b happens, it's inevitable that you start seeing all human beings (and places) around you as characters. And it's easier to be a good listener when you're a writer, since you want to find out more, always.
