I'd like to know which actual plantations are those fictionalized in this book? Only two major plantations (Magnolia Mound and Mount Hope) are now in the city of Baton Rouge, and only Nottoway is directly across the river from the city.

Molly Matthews The d'Alvery plantation is based on The Cottage (also known as The Conrad House) which was on Conrad Point on the east bank, south of LSU. The house burned in the early 1960s and only the columns of the house remain. It's private property, but they are visible from the River Road (LA 327) directly across the river from Addis.
