don't know if i want to read this or not... i'm a bit iffy about the whole cyborg thing... is it worth it if you're not really into science fic?

Martha i was in the same position as you and although i didn't LOVE that part in the beginning it does grow on you, especially in the second book (Scarlet) and it gets much better
Csilla The cyborg thing is mainly to make the heroine inferior - like a maidservant, who has practically no chance with the prince. The mechanical body parts were easy to get used to - what I couldn't buy was the social status of a cyborg in that future world. (but no imagined world is without flaws anyway)
The other sci-fi elements aren't really disturbing, there are a few short explanations about how a few stuff works but nothing too extraordinary... except "magic". :D
