I'm debating whether to read this book or not. I read an excerpt and I understand that she essentially dies, but what is this story telling? Is it explaining why she committed suicide?

Shanti This story shows the pain and confusion which is hiding behind the facade high school, epitomized by Liz, Julia and Kennie. The hypocrisy and pain are too much for Liz, so she tries to commit suicide. It is told through a mix of flashbacks and real time as the people around Liz see her choices and hope that she stays alive.
It does explain, and if you want a hopeful book, though it is really sad and confusing, you should read it.
