is this one of those twilight-like paranormal romances?

Mawkingbird Not at all. Don't worry about obsessive sparkling young men with strange eyes and inhuman strength. You won't ever feel thoroughly creeped out by the main characters, and the female protagonist is not a passive one at all. She gets things done, has her own opinions, and while she does have some feelings regarding 'love', the focus is not at all on that.
Katja Honestly the synopsis does not do the book justice. Yes, there is romance, but this book in not focused on love. The female protagonist is not only conceded for her true love, though of course she does worry about this, it is not constantly brought up with sappiness. It is such a great book, please read it.
Melissa Menten I don't think so. It's definitely paranormal and there are romantic elements, but at least the first book is more of a mystery-suspense than a romance. Also well-written.
Albertha Lachmi There are no vampires in this book, so you need not worry. However, I cannot attest to there being no sparkling, because Noah Czerny is a huge ball of glitter. That said, I recommend it to those who enjoy a bit of supernatural mixed with everyday teen angst. It's witty and well-written.
Sydney Sage it is nothing like twilight. it is witty and funny and sad.
and the romance that is in it is only a little and very heart breaking
Catherine Not really, no. It's much cleverer and lots less sappy.
♡ zahra ♡ NOT AT ALL! It's so much more complicated and beautiful. And the friendships are amazing. Even though it is paranormal YA the romance is minimal but the angst hits you like a truck. Also, it has beautiful and complex characters who you'll come to love. It's more of a mystery with paranormal events occurring in the timeframe.
Ayesha Seriously NO WAY! It's as opposite as could be.
Olivia Definitely not. There isn't that much romance in it, the boys aren't super creepy, and the female lead strong and opinionated.
Wilder I understand the concern for that, but this is hardly a paranormal "romance." There are so many more themes going on and the romance side is very light--really, it's barely mentioned and not in the ways that you'd expect. I don't think the synopsis does the book justice.
OneFootInHellAlready no.
