Does this end on a cliffhanger? This looks like a perfect fit for my 5th grade girl, but she hates cliffhangers... Especially if the next book isn't out yet!

However it's clear this is the first of a series and there are so many more things to discover about this world and hopefully we'll get to see the characters grow up. I read a lot of middlegrade fiction for work and normally I find them generally boring/obvious. This was the first middle grade fantasy I've read in awhile that really excited me!(less)
