There is at least one gender fluid character who is very cleverly introduced (and is in this book, though the character is not identified as gender fluid outright in this novel, Hobb works to get the audience invested in the characters before she starts challenging the reader regarding gender) and there are multiple gay characters featured in the Rainwilds Chronicles.
