Attention all blokes - Do not dismiss this book as Chick lit! Do men need to be convinced that this kind of novel is well worth reading, or do they feel pressure to read books that are perceived to be more macho I wonder?

Sheila O'Flanagan Attention all blokes - do not dismiss all books by women as Chick Lit either - many are as well written as this :)
Damien Roberts I read something declaring that men tend to read novels by men and women tend to read novels by women. Personally I don't think this site is a going to be a good representation of that group as I would venture to say that most people on here could care less about the gender of an author.
David Schwinghammer You better wonder. That's reverse sexism. I've been reading more books by women these days than ever before. I had a string going there for a while where I'd read five or six in a row. My source these days is the entertainment section of the Sunday paper; if the review is intriguing I order it.
Rachel Or, jfk, do not use the term 'chick lit' as a perjorative.
Aquilegia A man asked me to read it, he likes the humor.
Ann Brogan Given that this novel is about a middle-aged man going through a typical crisis for one his age, I would have thought it would be up there with Philip Roth and his contemporaries. Isn't that all they ever write about- men and their place in the world?
