Goodreads asked K.D. Keenan:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

K.D. Keenan The idea for "The Obsidian Mirror" has many sources, things I've been thinking about for a lifetime. My concern for the natural environment. My interest in Native American culture (inspired by my mother, who was an archeologist). The notion for how Necocyaotl spreads his evil around the world came from something my husband said years ago, speculating on what would happen if something ubiquitous, such as soap or radio waves, turned out to cause cancer. Necocyaotle doesn't use soap nor does he directly cause cancer, but I think his scheme is pretty nefarious--and also plays on the book's setting in Silicon Valley.
