Not initially. In fact, I killed him off in the first book but relented and resurrected him again. The idea came to me about three or four books ago. I suddenly thought - Who exactly is Markham? - and spent several days wandering around talking to myself and trying to make it work. Thanks for liking the books. Hard Time - a Time Police novel is out on the 16th and I think there's another St Mary's next April. Regards, Jodi.

Hi Jodi, I'm on my second round reading the St. Mary's books. Mostly, of course, because I very much enjoy them. But I also wanted to figure out how old Max is in the books. But I'm already starting to get lost again in book #1. ;-) In the Dramatis Personae, you say she's in her late 20s (during the main events, I assume), but I can't figure out her own biological age e.g.in book 14. Could you help, please? Ta! :-)
