It is sad in some parts, all that these women had individually gone through. But, they for the most part overcame the hardships and went on to leave productive lives of the free.

I assume you mean depressing but this book was most informative on circa-World War II episodes that were unknown to me. The story moves forward at an excellent pace and is touching without being mawky or self-pitying. I have recommended it to many of my friends

Not at all, IT covers some tough areas, but it shows that survivors go on to LIVE their lives.

yes, I really did not realize they were in a camp until halfway through the book
