I really loved the series when I was younger. Is this a continuation or just a story in the world that doesn't really connect?

Abby It is somewhat a continuation. It takes place at least 10 years after the epilogue of Maximume Ride Forever. It does not follow an original member of the flock, but Max and the Flock do play a role in the story.
